One Galle Face mall is open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM. It is just across the road from the north half of Galle Face Green. Inside are about 300 shops, a big food court, a supermarket and a cinema, all cool and dry.
Galle Face Green has little shade, and Colombo is hot: about 30 to 32 °C most afternoons. The mall is the easy place nearby to cool down, eat, find a toilet, change money, buy a SIM card or wait out a storm. Then you can walk back to the green for the sunset and the street food.
It opened in November 2019 and is one of Colombo’s biggest malls. Hotel guests, families, office workers and visitors all mix here, especially in the evenings and at weekends.
The mall is part of One Galle Face, built by the Shangri-La hotel group on the land of the old Army headquarters. Around it stand the Shangri-La hotel (opened in 2017), an office tower and two apartment towers. The apartment towers are the tallest in the group: about 190 metres, with 51 floors.
The two rounded towers just to the south, joined high up by a glass bridge, are ITC Ratnadipa, a different hotel and apartment building that opened in 2024. From the green, all of them make the skyline behind the kites.
| Floor | What you find |
|---|---|
| Lower Ground | The food court, fast food and snacks, a supermarket and a money exchange counter |
| Level 1 | Street level and the main doors: big international shops, bank branches and a family games centre |
| Level 2 | Sri Lankan brands, clothes and cafés |
| Level 3 | Sports, electronics, travel and home shops, and Asian restaurants |
| Level 4 | “Kid’s World”: toy shops, children’s clothes, games and a bookshop, plus a pharmacy |
| Level 5 | Phone shops (for SIM cards), clinics and cheaper stalls |
| Level 6 | The cinema, and restaurants and bars, some with sea views |
The car park is on three floors under the mall.
The food court is on the Lower Ground floor, one floor below the street, with more than 15 counters: Sri Lankan, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, Middle Eastern and more. Around it are fast-food places, snack stalls and cafés. In 2025 visitors paid about 1,000 to 2,500 rupees (about $3 to $8) for a main dish, and a few hundred rupees for a drink.
For a meal with a view, the restaurants on Level 6 look out over the sea. Some bars there serve alcohol, but no alcohol is sold anywhere on Poya (full-moon) days.
The cinema, run by PVR, is on Level 6, the top floor. It has nine screens and shows films in English, Sinhala, Tamil and Hindi. Check show times and buy tickets on the cinema’s website or app, or at the cinema itself. Cinemas may be closed on Poya days.
You pay for each game and ride. Prices are shown at each one.
The mall faces Galle Face Centre Road, a busy, fast road between it and the green. We found no footbridge or tunnel across it, so always use a crossing:
If you come by PickMe, Uber or tuk-tuk, ask for “One Galle Face mall”. Cars drop people off at the front. (More on getting around Colombo.)
Parking: 200 rupees an hour for cars and for motorbikes (October 2026). Pay by card at the machines or in cash to the car park staff. The car park entrance is at the back of the mall, on the east side. Parking by the road next to the green is cheaper: the city council charges 70 rupees an hour for a car, with the first 10 minutes free.
3 to 5 min walk (0.3 km) from the green: cross the road at the traffic lights

The mall is open every day from 10 AM to 10 PM, and the information desk keeps the same hours. Restaurants and cinema shows can have their own times.
We could not confirm Poya-day hours, so check with the mall before you go. On Poya (full-moon) days no alcohol is sold, and the cinema may be closed.
It is on the Lower Ground floor, one floor below the street. There are more than 15 food counters, plus fast-food places and snack stalls. In 2025 a main dish cost about 1,000 to 2,500 rupees (about $3 to $8).

It has seven floors: the Lower Ground floor and Levels 1 to 6. Level 1 is at street level, the food court and supermarket are one floor down, and the cinema is at the top.
Cross Galle Face Centre Road at the traffic lights by the Galle Face bus stop, then walk north for about 3 minutes. From the north tip of the green it is about a 5-minute walk. The road is very busy, so always use a crossing.
