The Lotus Tower is the tallest tower in South Asia. It is 351.5 metres high and shaped like a pink lotus bud on a green stem. Foreign visitors pay $20 (children aged 3 to 10: $10, October 2026 prices) to go up to the open-air viewing deck and to see the Pixel Bloom art rooms.
A fast lift takes you up in under a minute to the viewing deck on floor 29, about 245 metres above the ground. The deck is an open-air walkway all the way round the bud, with a safety wall and cables, so you feel the breeze and see in every direction. Boards on the wall point out the sights.
Pixel Bloom is a digital art space on the ground floor, opened in May 2024. Light, sound and pictures move around you and react when you move: a fun stop for children. Visitors in 2026 found it small, so allow 15 to 30 minutes. For foreign visitors it comes with the $20 ticket.

Children aged 3 to 10 pay $10, and children under 3 go free. Tickets are sold every day from 9 AM to 9 PM (10 PM at weekends), and the tower closes about an hour later.
How to buy: book a time on the tower’s own ticket website, tickets.colombolotustower.lk, up to three months ahead. Foreign visitors get one ticket for the deck and Pixel Bloom, and you pick the time you go in. Arrive about 15 minutes early, and bring your passport: the name must match your booking.
Plan about an hour: a bag check, the lift, 20 to 30 minutes on the deck and a short visit to Pixel Bloom. Queues are usually short, but evenings and weekends are the busiest.
The tower is about 1.5 km east of the green in a straight line, beside Beira Lake. On foot it is about 2.8 km, and by road 3 to 4 km.

Near the top, on floor 27, is Sri Lanka’s first revolving restaurant. It turns slowly, so you see the whole city while you eat. In October 2026 its buffet cost 9,000 rupees for an adult, for lunch or dinner, and booking a table is best. It is separate from the deck ticket.
The tower also has event halls and a casino, and concerts sometimes take place in its grounds. A bungee jump has been planned for years, but it had not opened by October 2026.
The tower was built from 2012 to 2019. It cost more than 100 million US dollars, mostly lent by a Chinese state bank. It was finished in September 2019, but it only opened to visitors on 15 September 2022. Besides the viewing deck, it also sends out radio and TV signals.
Its shape comes from the lotus, a flower that stands for purity in Buddhism.
About 250 to 400 rupees by meter tuk-tuk (a 35-minute walk, 2.8 km)
